Dengue virus makes its appearance in Sindh and Punjab

According to the most recent figures, 85 dengue cases were registered in Punjab over the previous day and 97 cases in Sindh.

KARACHI: The dengue virus is resurfacing in Sindh and Punjab as a result of the massive floods and torrential rains that created excellent mosquito breeding conditions.

According to the most recent numbers provided by the authorities, 85 dengue virus cases in Punjab and 97 in Sindh were registered over the course of the previous day.

The Sindh Health Department announced that 92 of the 97 dengue cases registered in Sindh over the past 24 hours have been found in Karachi alone.

The virus was most prevalent in District Central, where 27 cases were reported, followed by East (26) within the same time period. South of Karachi, however, saw 17 infections at that time, West had 9 instances, Keamari saw 7 cases, Malir saw 4, and Korangi saw 2 cases.

347 illnesses were detected in the first five days of September, bringing the overall number of dengue virus cases this year to 2,922, according to a provincial health official.

According to the provincial health secretary, 85 cases of the virus were detected in Punjab during the course of the last day. The official revealed the numbers, noting that, in addition to other regions, Rawalpindi had 46 dengue cases, Lahore 31, and Bahawalpur 2.

Punjab has recorded 1,622 cases of the virus so far this year, and 310 of those patients are receiving treatment at various facilities throughout the state.
