The flash floods wreaked havoc on the people of Sindh and Balochistan, according to Bakhit Atiq al-Rumiti, the UAE consul general in Karachi.

On Friday, the business community met with the general consul of the UAE. Speaking to the city's business leaders, he said that the UAE government has consistently helped flood victims and supported Pakistan in times of need.

"Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have a long-standing alliance. This connection was made by the late Sheikh Zayed and is still in place "said he.

In addition, Consul General Al-Rumiti explained his connection to Pakistan by stating, "I have been employed in Pakistan for the past 20 years." In 2005, he claimed to have worked in earthquake-stricken areas. He emphasised that in 2010, the government of the UAE helped Pakistan after a flood.

Increased relief efforts for flood victims are required, the UAE consul general emphasised, adding that the UAE government is working to assist the flood victims. However, he asserted that since the flood victims are starving, they require more aid.

The consul general claims that despite the severe devastation flood victims have experienced, they receive inadequate and sparse aid. He emphasised that since the government cannot handle the disasters alone, the business community should help flood victims.

He informed the city's business community that the government of the United Arab Emirates had established medical camps in various flood-affected areas. He also exhorted them to offer assistance to flood victims.

He continued by saying that businessmen who want to invest in the UAE must do so because they will be helped.
