LAHORE: According to News, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has detained two terrorists who are members of an outlawed group there.
The accused were found to have 1,320 grammes of explosives, four nonelectric detonators, a weapon, and prohibited material, according to a CTD official who made the announcement here on Saturday.
The CTD conducted 367 combing operations this week with the assistance of the local police, resulting in the arrest of 226 suspects and the filing of 22 (first information report) FIRs.
In a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) with the police last week, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have killed two terrorists in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area of Lakki Marwat.
Based on intelligence inputs that wanted terrorists were present in the Lakki Marwat neighbourhood of Takhti Khel, the CTD and local police conducted the operation.
There was a prolonged exchange of gunfire that resulted in the deaths of two terrorists. The terrorists were named as Tahir alias Inqelabi and Waliullah alias Fidai.
Prior to the World XI team's visit to Lahore, it was discovered on Thursday that police had completed the security plan to ensure the team's utmost protection.
Police will perform search operations near the hotel where the team will be staying and the Gaddafi Stadium, in accordance with the security plan.
The details of the security arrangements in this respect have been worked out by CCPO Amin Wains and DIG (Operations) Athar Ismael.
To protect the safety of the visiting team, nearly 10,000 police officers and Rangers will participate in search activities, according to sources.
The SP of Civil Lines police station has also scheduled a meeting to assure the safety of the team's hotel for lodging. Police, Rangers, intelligence agents, and CTD teams would be stationed at the hotel, according to the SP, to provide security. To ensure that the hotel's security measures are unbreakable, over 1000 police officers will be assigned to tasks in and around the hotel. Additionally, NADRA vehicles will be stationed at the hotel to confirm local residents' identities.
Along with stationing tens of thousands of police officers, commandos, and snipers at the route, the authorities in Lahore have also asked the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for assistance with air surveillance of the stadium and route.
Police have advised that residents report any suspicious activities in the vicinity in order to prevent any unpleasant incidents.
