ISLAMABAD: The federal government has determined that Ishaq Dar will become the new Finance Minister starting the following week.

A meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took place, according to details, to discuss issues of mutual interest. A subsequent meeting will take place on Sunday to further finalise the party's plans.

According to sources, Ishaq Dar may travel back to Islamabad with Shehbaz Sharif, but the senior party leadership will make the final decision.

The return of Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan will also be discussed by the party leadership.

Ishaq Dar, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and a former finance minister, had permanent arrest warrants suspended by an accountability court on Friday and were not to be carried out when the politician returned to Pakistan.

The court suspended Ishaq Dar's ongoing arrest warrants while giving Dar a chance to appear in court.
