ISLAMABAD: According to US State Department spokesman Ned Price, they recently informed Congress of a proposed $450 million foreign military sale for upkeep and sustainment services for the Pakistani Air Force's F-16 aircraft.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan is a crucial ally in the fight against terrorism in a variety of ways. Additionally, we offer life cycle maintenance and sustainment packages for systems with US origins as part of our longtime policy.

The F-16 programme in Pakistan is a crucial component of the larger US-Pakistan bilateral relationship, and this proposed sale will keep Pakistan's F-16 fleet operational, preserving its ability to combat terrorism threats both now and in the future.

He added that Pakistan can support counterterrorism activities with the help of this fleet. In response to a question regarding the flood situation and US assistance for those affected, Price stated that the US is profoundly saddened by the destruction and the loss of life that these historic floods have caused throughout Pakistan and that we stand with the people of Pakistan during this trying time.

He added that as of September 12th, earlier this week, a total of nine US Central Command flights had transported more than half of the 630 metric tonnes of aid that USAID's Dubai warehouse had stored for the response to these massive floods.

He swore that the US will continue to work closely with our Pakistani friends to analyse the damage that has been caused by these floods and that we would keep helping our allies in need.

As reported, participation in the F-16 Aircraft Structural Integrity Programme, Electronic Combat International Security Assistance Programme, International Engine Management Programme, Engine Component Improvement Programme, and other technical coordination groups would be part of the follow-on support for Pakistan's F-16 fleet.

The assistance would also include hardware and software modifications and support for aircraft and engines, spare repair and return parts for aircraft and engines, accessories, and support gear, classified and unclassified software, software support, publications, manuals, and technical documentation, precision measurement, calibration, lab gear, technical support services, studies, and surveys, as well as other related aspects of aircraft maintenance and programme assistance.

Rajnath Singh, the Indian Minister of Defense, voiced his worry to US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Wednesday on Washington's most recent decision to sell Pakistan a food package.

Rajnath Singh expressed India's disapproval of the recent US decision to give Pakistan's F-16 fleet a support package in a series of Tweets. He claimed to have had a cordial and fruitful phone talk with Mr. Lloyd Austin, the US Secretary of Defense. We talked about improved defence and security cooperation as well as the rising convergence of strategic interests.
